I would argue that playing chess probably makes one an overall better decision maker especially the timed ones seeing more than 3 steps ahead.

Or...actually driving a car. You know, you get good at something you do a lot of. Bet truck drivers are better drivers than CoD players.

I was actually referring to beyond just driving. I believe the researchers were attempting to find out for a skilled driver who already drivers were there any improvements to driving for COD players. We can all agree if are naive to driving taking a driving class obviously will the best to learn to drive in general. Obviously actually driving and experience improves skill vs playing video games alone but does playing fast reflex and response games improve on drivers who are already skillful drivers? This might be all anecdotal beyond a driving sim.

If I can't see through the vehicle in front of me so I can keep tabs on the vehicle in front of them, I stay back. I don't trust other drivers and I want to know what's coming up so I can react. It's irritating when the vehicle in front of you, the driver isn't paying attention and they have to break hard at the last second. I want to avoid any possible accidents.
However, the drawback for me hanging back is that other f'ing retards on the road think the open space between me and the vehicle in front of me is an open invitation to cut me off so I have to also be on the lookout for those morons.

It's not a perfect strategy but when the lane turns and goes down or up you can see a few vehicles in front of you as well as the red light ambient reflections often radiates to surrounding surfaces. If you see a whole lot of red in the background do you continue with your current accelerated rate or do you slow down even if the car of you didn't realize that red means slow down?
Update the other day driving to work the car in front of me takes out a lit blunt driver window and takes a pull at the red light. This is the new cool thing. Facepalm squared. With legalization of marijuana we are dealing with a lot more drivers that are driving under the influence. This is what we are dealing with going forward. This was definitely a spectacle for me

Tell that to the people who put on their signal and then expect you to let them cut you off or get out of their way, then get really upset you didn't yield to them, tailgate you and try their best to get in front of you to then brake check you.
People who do use their signals as intended, A+ to the few of you, you're in the minority these days unfortunately.

This is possibly due to paying attention and having to be alert to perceived dangers around you. Of course while gaming they're not real dangers but it requires the same level of alertness and speed of action. I've personally been in quite a few situations where I have been in danger and have made multiple decisions on how to lessen damage to myself in just a couple of short seconds. It really is like the world is slowing down. Like some kind of max payne moment.
