PlayStation 4 is destroying the Xbox One in Amazon customer poll

First Off I was generalizing when I said Walmart aka brick and mortar. Does FRYs make more since. Now a days I would check new egg or Amazon. I have no need to build a computer and hunt down the latest drivers to config the system. I have built 2 386 machines in my early days before plug and play was ever heard of. When people actually built the computer from the ground up. Today kids plug in a new Video card or plug in some memory dimm and tell people they built a computer. Lmao Anybody can build a computer this day an age but why would I want to when I could have some slave laborer from China to do it. The last computer I bought was from tiger direct configured online and shipped to my door. Microsoft wont waste its time in Asia because the Asian people prefer buying machines built by Asians. The Xbox is built in China but I guess its still to American for there tastes. PC gaming is for lonely nerds who live with there parents because their to big of losers to find a life and a job. I could run my computer threw HDMI from my Vid card to my home theater but why deal with the headache of wondering if the game is going to crash. Then spend more time trying to tweak the game settings so it will run consistently. Whatever..Nerds go play WOWC and pull your puds or diddle your muffins to online porn because you cant get a life or a woman or man which ever you prefer.

I think u need to be MUTED by a moderator here, not only u insult ppl for doing hard work, wherever they live and u find it amusing but also INSULT PC gamers worldwide without a reason.

Also your clichee comparison about ppl who use PC for gaming is retarded. console games are MADE on PC.

At this point, it could only be a half and half Steam implementation (as the disc games will not be attached to your account in the right way). And I think the biggest problem would be for Sony to not look biased towards digital download over disc (that would annoy the retailer).

There are too many politics around these issues and Sony isn't financially in a spot to take such a big risk.

Oh, and where does it say that ALL of the ps4's games will be digital downloads day 1? I know MS announced that theirs would at E3, but I only remember hearing that the ps4 games would have digital downloads too, not specifically day 1...

I didn't mention anything about day 1 downloads, but more to the meat of your comment/question, I can't think of a valid/good reason why Sony wouldn't offer all games as digital downloads. Even if Sony doesn't offer all games as downloads initially after the launch of their console, the great thing about technology/computers, is that they can update their download service to make it so.

Sony can easily evolve their service to match Steam/Microsoft's X1.

Everyone seems to be looking passed the fact that Sony will allow 3rd party developers/publishers to implement strict DRM on their games which would allow games to be as you said, "attached to your account in the right way".

Also, I don't know how PS4 would be alienating retailers anymore than X1 would be. If retailers said FU Sony and Microsoft for selling games digitally we refuse to sell your games in our stores, to me at least, since you said that Sony isn't as financially well-off, it would seem to make more sense if Sony went the digital download route because they could cut out the middle man (brick and mortar store) and pocket more money for themselves by selling games through their own digital PSN Store. Right now Sony, Microsoft, and I guess Nintendo(?) have to split the pie 3 ways between themselves, the store, and the game publisher. If they go digital, they only have to it split it 2 ways.

Perhaps I don't fully understand the concept of selling digitally vs in an actual store and the money involved. The strategy probably needs the involvement of a think tank group.

Why are bigots like this guy not banned?

That's a big assumption for someone who followed someone elses assumption about the dev kits not being dev kits. I never said the console was a good purchase, especially in it's current state. I'm just removing misconceptions...

From what I hear, it was dev kits also for the ps4 (and on stage with Assassins Creed it froze/overheated/errored because of something).
And why would it be Windows 8? The dev kits have been around for years while that hasn't been around that long...

http://www.cinemablend.com/games/PS4-Games-E3-Ran-PS4-Dev-Hardware-High-End-PCs-56752.html

Then surely the dev kits should go back to the Xbox OS and not Windows? As per the link above several Devs agree, at least when the Playstation's crashed, they went to an OS nobody recognized.

Ah, well then the XB1 has a 1 up for gamers who want the digital download (hopefully for their sake it can be pre-installed a day or so early like Steam). And I'm pretty sure Sony announced that all their games will be digital also, but not necessarily out day 1.

Even if they update their systems, because most of the games will be attached to the disc (not the account) it will create inconsistencies. At least with the XB1 it is always attached to the account.
But I'm not saying Sony can't find a way to do it, I'm just saying it will be weird. They have already put themselves in a position to fully support discs. To push digital like that would be.. interesting....

"Sony will allow 3rd party developers/publishers to implement strict DRM on their games which would allow games to be as you said, 'attached to your account in the right way'"
I don't think so. This will either attach it to the developer accounts or still require you to have the disc to play. Not allow you to play it without the disc by the sounds of it. That could change, but I will doubt that for now.

Politics my friend. If Sony alienates the people who sell their console and sells used games, they won't want that console to sell. I don't know if that would be messy or not, but it looks like Sony isn't taking it's chances at this moment. But yeah, digital would be more beneficial for Sony and the publisher (but more so for consumers at lower game prices)...

I don't fully understand it either, but apparently MS thinks that to move forward what they have laid out is the middle ground (the hate suggests otherwise).
But the middleman can be used for word of mouth. If they like your product, they will try to sell it. However in this modern age, they are becoming less and less relevant...

To me $4-500 dollars better spent on a gaming PC that would drive circles around the coming consoles. That amount of money would get you at least half way to a nice setup minus a descent display. Just saying.

You're slipping dude...usually you would post your computer specs.

It only takes about 1000$ to build a decent PC that can play games in HD (30-60FPS max details). If you are patient you can find great deals.
Did you think he posted $4,500 instead of $4-500 ? I think it would be hard to build a gaming PC for the same $400 as the new PS4.

I hear a lot of Steam slam and I've only seen a few people, including myself mention it so I will one more time:

The big reason Steam works is you get games CHEAP. I have over 300 titles, well over 150 of those are very top titles (I.E. FarCry3, F1 2012, F.E.A.R. 3, The obvious Valve games (Portals, Left 4 Deads, etc.), Fallout - New Vegas (and the formers), Crysis (1/2), Metro 2033, All the LEGOs, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, Kerbal, the list goes on and on and on... Sure, I don't have the latest right out the gate...

The POINT of this is; I might have to wait a few months, but I have never paid more then $20 for any game in my library. MOST of them less then $5 each. At these prices, piracy doesn't exist either. That's pretty much the whole point. Just wait for the sale and grab it up.

PLUS, I can put the games on all of my computers and play them everywhere (accept the Batmans which I avoid for that reason. I'll buy them when they turn that archaic DRM off). I can't trade them which is the one bummer but. For these prices, ehh.

I don't know, but they seem like they were only meant to play games in an emulated environment, not feature the whole OS. I won't say anything more than it seem like people are overreacting over a non-issue (as long as it looks and runs the same on the final hardware, it shouldn't matter).

And I never saw or heard of the ps4 crashing going to a weird OS, only saw that during E3 it didn't perform correctly during the end of the AC4 demo...

Its Burty117 btw, just off a friends machine.
Well their are screenshots floating around
http://assets.exophase.com/images/2013/06/PS4-Error.jpg

Also wondering what the authenticity is of this video posted to youtube? It looks legit and if so, the download part of games was made a big thing of in it meaning playstation may already have a download service all setup, just not every game is available on it as of yet.

As far as I know (since not me, but a friend has a PS3) PS+ comes with free games and good discounts for downloads.
I also am on the same page as you when it comes to steam and the great deals they have. I've bought AAA games with prices ranging from 5 to 10$.

It happened not during the conference, but at the E3 booths. MS also had the problems with the OS/PC not during the conference but at the booths. Instead of xbox one's they had high end PC's with intel/nvidia hardware that had most likely the PC ports playing. This in itself isn't a problem, but this means that they were doing false advertising if it's proven that the consoles games aren't getting the same quality. (this is mostly because people don't think that the games can play at the same fps and video quality because the xbox one is pretty much 30-40% less powerful than the PS4 on paper)

I think I read it ok. I just said that he would need ~1000$ not 4-500$ and that he could get the price down (or get more expensive parts) if he's patient and looks for some really good deals.

If you ignore your family; PC or Console doesn't matter. You have other issues. I work 120 hours and play too many games as it is. But I also have a wife and twin infant boys. So I play at the wee-morning hours (when I'm still awake that is). I'm 38 and mostly game on my PC when I do have a chance to sit down and play. Right now it isn't much but over time it will grow again. But if you ignore your duties, you are anything but a 'grown-a$$' man, I don't care how physically old you might be...

Well said.

That guy is doing it wrong. My girlfriend plays games with me and there is a time and a place for everything. You don't ignore your duties as a man or a parent to sit playing games all night.

Just like you don't leave all your homework to be completed sunday night before school.

you get that **** done friday so you can enjoy your weekend.

Haven't you learned anything?

They said all their games are running in-engine :p So technically not false advertising, but maybe misleading for those who didn't think about it. And I'm sure they were emulating the hardware...

Hey, I could register and be a cranky dude but you will probably sue me for gimmick infringement.

Ah yes, I remember those times fondly! I used to refer to it as, "servicing the queen".........;)

Sadly my gf makes up the 3% in favor of xbox one, what about drm? I always have internet. What about not being able to resell games or buy used ones? I always keep my games and I usually buy them new. Its 100$ more? I like xbox!

In-engine doesn't mean "same settings", but honestly I don't care anymore. It's not like we'll ever know the truth about what the hell was going on there.
We'll just have to wait and see how cross-platform games compare on both consoles and PC. Both consoles should launch just before my birthday and I already know which one I'll buy ^_^

edit: I forgot that xbone will not launch in my country and I can't import it even though I'm in the EU. not that I will buy it anytime soon.

I only read comments from people who starts comparing game console with PC because it's funny to read them xD

Well..

1) your a guest, we really could care less... You're just here to troll. But since you brought it up in this case and want to look like a jerk:
2) they ARE PCs... Plain and simple. They both, the XBone and PS4 were intentionally designed to be x86 this time and both use AMD APUs (CPU/GPU in one). As I've already said once before: The AMD FX-8350, probably as close to the comparable console setup as you'll get in a PC at the moment... $199 right now, available back in October...

So it's impossible not to compare them, they ARE PCs this time. They were glorified PCs last time specialized for their tasks but this time they are pure and simple, darn near off the shelf units. Just really not all that powerful and the PS4 has the added bonus of newer DDR5 memory that isn't really 'out' yet accept for some dedicated GPUs.

The problem with PC gaming is You Will Spend Allot Of Time Driving Circles To The Walmart to upgrade your PC for the latest game. This game for that new card and more memory , and another new card and then crash , crash , because a driver failed to work with some such monitor and motherboard configuration. People that think their special because their a PC gamer spend more time telling people their a PC gamer than actually playing games. My PC is awesome , My PC is better than your PC. Blah.blah. blah. Guess what nerd my 10k in home theaters 2 of them blows away your PC in gaming. 2Panasonic 65" plasma , 2Yamaha 7.2 140watts per channel ,14 M&K speakers and 2 sub woofers ,dusty PS3 and over used xbox360. I dont have to wonder if my gaming system is configured correctly to play the game, It plays the game no problems EVERY TIME. Boom! Get a real job then step up to the plate and buy both systems
What PC Gamer goes to Wallmart to update his PC? They don't even sell the ram I would need. My last machine lasted 6 years and all I replaced was a video card every 2.5 years. You are obviously not a PC Gamer Enthusiast. Your point of view sound more like a grasshopper. BTW Yamaha bows to my Nakamichi. Is your 64 in 4k...if not you got some more money to spend.

Mrcobbynot - If you were trolling the thread, you get the "Troll of the Year" award. Your comment alone has probably doubled the responses to this topic. The best troll hook was "Wallmart's PC DIY'er".

TechSpot should make a new trophy for conditions such as this.
