Hi Guys. I would be really grateful if someone could go through my Hijackthis log file and tell me if I'm clean of the above virus. AVG picked it up earlier as PSW.Banker3.CIY located in System volume information\_restore so I healed it then ran Spybot search and destroy and webroot spysweeper. Spysweeper picked it up and deleted it but I need to check with an expert to see if im clear. The annoying thing is that I run AVG, Zonealarm and spy-sweeper and I've still picked it up. I only formatted two days ago due to being unable to remove morphing viruses! Please help guys before I throw the PC on the fire!

Sorry guys. Just read the removal instructions which I didnt notice at first! Will follow it step by step and post back tomorrow with the results.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

I don`t know which removal instructions you`re referring to, so here are the ones you need to follow, if you`re not already.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan.

Hi Howard. Thanks for the reply. I followed your step by step removal instructions and will attach HJT and Combofix logs. The AVG Spyware removal didnt find any problems. The step by step instructions were very helpful and very well written so thankyou very much for the instructions. Hopefully my system is clean now, its taken me all day lol but well worth it! Thankyou for your time!

Your HJT log is clean.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE.

Now, turn system restore back on. This will have deleted all your old restore points and any nasties that are in them. It will also have created a new, clean restore point.

If you have any further virus/spyware problems, please post in this thread.
