Power up Monitor

When I power up my computer I see a black screen when I turn the power button of on the monitor then back on the monitor will then turn on . It does not do it all the time but is getting more frequent. I did get a video card a couple of weeks ago. Can someone please help with this.!!

First things first... Try another monitor. What kind of monitor is it? LCD or CRT?
