Printer not working, computer losing time, motherboard problem?

Hello,

Over the past few weeks I have booted up my computer to find that the time has been reset to the second of January 2007 and just now my printer isn't working. I don't know if these issues are related, but I think they are. The non working printer is a Canon BJC-4300 connected to my computer via a prallel printer port. The motherboard is a Asus A7N8X-VM/400. Strangly enough however, for the past 2 reboots exactly the computer has been keeping the time correctly

I don't really have any more information to give other than that. Whenever the printer doesn't print, windows comes up with a message simply saying "printer failed" so I don't have any specifics on that.

Well, thanks for any help.

It may only be a battery replacement for the motherboard... if you reboot the clock should stay the same (after resetting it ofcourse) because its only a reboot, power is still there. But if you do a complete shut down and wait, then turn it back on and the clocks wrong, its most likely the battery.

Only a suggestion...

As for the printer, are you sharing a printer on a network, or directly?
