Re installing XP Home over Pro after WGA

Let me first say I am sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.

While depolyed to Kuwait, in order to use your personal computer, administrators had to update your computer to use on the post's networks. This included installing XP Pro. Now Windows Genuine Advantage says that I have a non genuine copy of XP Pro. I am out of the military, and a long way from that administrator. Sooo...

I tried re installing XP Home that came with the Dell Inspiron 8600. Only the re install won't go because it senses a newer version of XP.

I seem to know just enough about windows and computers to get myself into trouble. Oh and Dell wasn't helpful without charging money. I probably would be just as good as buying a new product code.

I feel like I am having to pay for windows twice.

Any advice on what to do and how to do it would be great.
