Repeated Blue Screens and Restarts

hey,
i repeatedly get a blue screen on my HP Pavilion laptop with Windows XP. it says the usual, "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer." it restarts every time before i can get the whole message. but i got this code from the blue screen:

0x000000F4 (0X00000003, 0x822BCDA0,...

there are more parameters, but i didn't write them down yet.
when the laptop restarts it gets stuck and never finishes bringing up Windows. so i shut it off and wait a few minutes to start it back up. after several minutes i can turn it back on and windows will come up normally. but inevitably, i will get another blue screen with the same message, and the whole mess starts over again. any ideas?

Your copy of windows is corrupt, possibly caused by a failing hard drive.
If you have data on the drive you need to retrieve, you need to take the drive out and connect it to a desktop using a special adapter.
If you are not bothered and already have it all backed up you could run the system recovery routine from the CDs that came with the machine. If the drive is bad the recovery process will probably detect it.
