SATA Header

  1. Is it possible for one of my Serial ATA headers to be "dead"?

I have 4 SATA headers on my mother board with two drives plugged in; the OS drive 320gb on 0 and an 500gb for movies and stuff on 1. When I plug in another 500gb to SATA header 2, it says that there is no drive connected to 0, which is the main drive. Whats going on here?

Perhaps your motherboard has two different SATA chipset manufacturers and you need to install the SATA driver for the other one.
