SATA II controler with a SATA150 drive

i've got the GA-8N-SLi pro gigabyte mother board that has the MCP04 nvida RAID controler intergrated on to the board, i have a Hitachi HDS722516VLSA80 160GB SATA150 drive at least i think its SATA150 are these compatiable because i can't get the driver to reconginze the drive on the XP bootdisk, but the diagonistic tool by hitachi recongizes it fully. help please
