Sound card issues

Hi. We are looking for some advice on what to do with my computer not recognizing my sound card all of a sudden. I had updated my Netscape Navigator and boom, my screen flickered, and left me with no sound card. It is there, but it is not recognized, "no audio device" is the responce on my first attempts at repair. We are using Windows XP with an AMD Sempron 2400 processor. Any takers???

start, control panel, device manager ->what does it say under sound, video, and game controllers?

Thanks for your reply, but by doing a System Reset/Restore, which I just found out by playing around with it, I did it and it works great now, just as always!!!... thanx for all your interest...Timotheos
