Static Electricity

  1. So, as I lie on my bed and move around, I build up static electricity which is released as a static shock when I touch my computer.
    ...this is bad for my computer, right? Should I make an effort not to do that?

    OUCH !! Static discharge can kill ram, eprom and other onboard chips.

    Attempt to avoid it by
    • touching a bedside lamp base (metal) before touching the laptop
    • get out of bed, walk to the door and touch the door handle
    Find a means to discharge your body before touching the laptop
