TLDR: Issue is now fixed.

I think the discussion got a little sideways but this made me realize our SSL certificate was not considering the non-www techspot requests properly. Now, the good news is that we redirect most/all requests to www.techspot.com but in some scenarios that I was unable to replicate, browsers would try the non-www version, hence the error. Now fixed

Interesting. Certificates are much like Cookies -- static sets of text assigned meaning. Neither of them are active so neither of them can implement an form of redirection. Also our cert has not been updated.

I would think that you added a
DNS CNAME for techspot.com to www.techspot.com
