The LG G4 will be the first non-Nexus device to receive Android 6.0

LG has announced that their flagship smartphone for 2015, the LG G4, will be the first handset outside of Google's own Nexus devices to receive an update to Android 6.0 "Marshmallow".

Android 6.0 will be pushed to owners of the LG G4 in Poland starting next week, with devices in the rest of Europe, Asia and the Americas "to follow". In the past, LG has rolled out updates to other markets pretty soon after going live in Poland, so G4 owners in other territories shouldn't have to wait long to get in on the Marshmallow action.

With LG releasing Android 6.0 on their flagship smartphone ahead of their competitors, the company once again positions itself as a great choice for those wanting fast Android updates. Last year, LG was one of the first manufacturers to push Android 5.0 to their devices (it first came to the LG G3), and they're backing this trend up again this year.

It's not clear when or if LG's other Android smartphones, such as the year-old LG G3, will get an Android 6.0 update, with the company simply saying that "details of the Android M upgrade schedule and affected models will be announced in individual markets."

Quicker than Motorola's devices... I'm impressed. But that's only one device and it'll probably the last update it'll ever see unlike Motorola's and Googles which will see a few.

I think that Motorola got it right when it was under google's ceiling, they realized that it is easier to update several devices when you have a vanilla GUI

Well they're under Lenovo's umbrella now and they still seem to be doing fine, I just hope it stays that way.

My cherry mobile android one budget smartphone was already updated to android marshmallow last October 8, 2015, if I was not mistaken.
(I really like the android one program of google.)

I wonder how 'flagships' receive priority updates as some models of yesteryears are already left behind. maybe buying the latest is a bad idea/practice.
