TikTok star licks plane toilet seat for "coronavirus challenge"

Willing to sacrifice all self-worth and humility for clout and money. I haven't seen someone so unlikable on the internet in quite some time.

No counter-argument here

On a more serious note, we let our writers pick stories and I imagine the reason this got covered was because of the tech/cultural phenomenon that TikTok is. However stupid it may be (or how we 30-50+ yrs old perceive it), ask any 12 year old and suddenly they have a completely different take on things.
And that is the commentary, is it not? As long as there are marketing departments out there (speaking in very general terms) that are admittedly intent on trying to addict anyone and everyone to the latest greatest (although worthless, IMO) thing, and as long as there are societal pressures that promote the worthless as a requirement to be one of the crowd, there will always be entities like this woman seeking to capitalize on those who believe in such things and are hooked into thinking that worthless items have value.

Maybe I am off-topic on this, however, the article calls her out, not unjustly, IMO. Yet, just laughing at her or being disgusted by her has the potential to do nothing other than make us feel good about ourselves while drawing more attention to her - maybe in a way that does not really serve what is best for everyone.

Maybe I am just tooting my own horn here as I really don't know what to suggest, however, IMO, one voice has power, and collectively speaking out against something like this would have even greater power especially if Tik-Tok is a platform frequented by those that are not old enough to discern the difference between what is truly in their best interests and what is not.

By mimicking her actions in this challenge, someone who knows no better could easily get very, very ill if not die, as @captaincranky points out, by licking up someone else's e-coli.

Look at what happened to this guy when people spoke out and said enough! https://nypost.com/2020/03/15/tenne...selling-almost-18k-bottles-of-hand-sanitizer/
IMO, he is little, if any different than this "Tik-Tok Star".

This type of article doesn't bother me a bit. With everybody on their high horse about "how this isn't about tech". I have an alternative solution.

Then go read an article which is, as there are plenty of them.

As an alternative, go help someone build or repair their computer. There are plenty of those threads as well.

So, no one posting to this thread can legitimately claim there isn't an alternative.

Further in that same train of thought, why are you then posting to this one, if not for the purpose of dictating what are writers are allowed to post. to suit you as individuals. You ignored other threads, and came straight to rail on this one.

You people remind me of a prude who watches an entire porn movie, to claim it's "obscene", after it's over. Well, here we are at post #26. You claim not to like it, yet here you are.,...still.

As far as topics go, I found the the responses to the one about the little gamer boy who shot and killed his monitor, about as repugnant as they come.

We had a hoard of snowflakes far halfway around the world, declaring they could do a better job of legislating the US guns laws than our elected officials.

Why do we need to, when you could put the blame where it should be, on ,the foolish little loudmouth gamer boy who couldn't hold his liquor, and on the violent atmosphere that most video games create

So how's this for an idea, if you don't like a topic, don't post to it. That's the only way your "vote" means anything. If the thread doesn't get any clicks, then Techspot doesn't make any money on it.

Because anything else, is hypocrisy.

Epilogue: I'm surprised that no one has come forward saying, "that we should outlaw toilet seats on airplanes.

TS has some weird hard on for TikTok. It's the real reason this was published. They seem to do a lot of non-tech related TikTok articles about trash.

Interesting. This article has 33 comments and lord knows how many views. The majority of other tech comments don't have this much attention. Sad. You trolled me, and I fell for it.

To be fair, licking toilets is a job best left for dumb people. Just happy it's not someone like my doctor doing this.

I'm not so sure guys...I think the world needs to be reminded of the idiocy and hypocrisy that surrounds us.
Either this young person is an ***** of unusual proportion, or that toilet seat got the biggest dose of sanitizer ever before applying her useless yap to it.
Or she purposely trying to goad others into getting ill and not willing to risk it herself.

someone once said "stupid people have stupid kids, don't believe me? follow a stupid kid home and see if someone stupid doesn't answer the door"

I'm guessing the accumulated IQ of this girl and her parents is left wanting.

But gee, I guess this demonstrates that boomers are sure morons!

Get your fill sweetheart.

hey! I'm for it if it means these *****s will fall in!

I think she's hilarious. The absurd notions and actions are designed to get attention rather than being based in beliefs, and lo and behold people are writing articles about her. Fait accompli.

Techspot, you should be embarrassed. You are doing nothing but the same thing she is, trading your dignity for cash. Is this how hard up sites are for clicks these days?
