Titanfall Review: Is this what first person shooters have been missing?

This has to be the most biased and opinionated article I have read on TechSpot. He does not even define or go into much real detail about the mechanics, graphic details or any important information us consumers are interested in. It feels like I'm reading a Teenage Girls blog "gushing" over a boy she's crushing on. This makes alot of us readers wonder whether he has ulterior motives or incentive to give such high praise to this game/company.

Please be more specific and critical and stop wasting our time with bonding moments you had with your buddies over this game. I have had as much if not more fun playing terrible games with friends... this doesn't exactly denote the games worth/merits.

Avg. Consumer/Guest #2

And please, don't bother trying to discredit us because we can't be bothered to log into facebook and have you guys ban us for opposing your shady views/agendas. You buncha sold-out e-nerds pandering to whoever gives you free pc parts... :p

I'm guessing you have a reading comprehension problem. The various gaming scenarios he describes defines the mechanics perfectly. I wish more reviews were like this so I knew how the game actually plays.

What do you want to know about the graphics? Too lazy to go to You Tube or the Titanfall website and watch the 1,001 gameplay videos to see what they look like? You need someone to tell you, "they look good" so you'll believe it? You think a state-of-the-art new release like this is going to have crappy graphics? Have you HEARD of anyone complaining about the graphics?

Amazing how the title of "Guest" almost always equals ridiculous comments.

Apparently you need someone to tell you too, or you wouldn't be here. Grow up.

"Apparently this is the first shooter you've ever played. TitanFall is full of comprimises:"

Really? And you're telling me to grow up making comments like that.

"- runs at 780~p on console."

Guess you haven't noticed this is a PC website. If you're playing this game on a console then you deserve what you get.

Hey - we get it. You don't like the game. I guess you need liquid crystal virtual reality graphics, a 5 ping server and 500 man sides to make it worthy of a thumbs up from you.

Keep holding your breath for that, would ya?

Absolutely love the game. I played the beta and loved it. I preordered and have been playing a lot since release. I am having a lot of fun, especially when I play with some clan mates in CTF.

The thing I do not like about the game is the lack of content. The maps are plentiful and fun, but the variety of weapons is disappointing. Only 2 SMGs, 2ARs. 2 snipers, and an LMG if I am not mistaken... that is quite a few weapons for such a hyped game. I really hope they add more in future patches or DLCs.

GhostRyder said: "...the person who decides he/she cannot be bothered to show his or herself with an actual account instead choosing to be anonymous"...

This made me laugh. EVERYONE here is 'anonymous' *******, including you...unless your actual name is 'GhostRyder' *nerd*. Having an account here doesn't give you a true identity. And in case you are curious, I have an account here...just can't remember my pw and frankly, it really isn't that important to me.

As much as you guys rail on about allowing people to have an opinion in the form of an article, you should allow EVERYONE that same courtesy in their forum replies. If you don't like the opinion, disagree and discuss it as an adult instead of attacking their supposed lack of intelligence.

I think the only people laughing is... Well everyone, specifically at you and your remarks, nice try though.

Apparently this is the first shooter you've ever played. TitanFall is full of comprimises:
- no single player
- low quality dated textures
- old graphics engine, lacks scalability
- Retarted Bots added as fillers because engine can't handle more human players.
- Very limited weapons
- Very limited upgrades
- Pathetic gameplay modes.
- Jumping/scaling walls went out with Unreal Tournament.
- runs at 780~p on console.
Might I inquire as to what game your playing because im failing to see many of the problems your listing.

Now I bought the Xbox ONE version merely because I had enough PC games as is and felt I wanted to play on console but im not going to debate which platform is superior. But let me go through what you said.

*No Single Player
There is a campaign of sorts, albeit is multi-player but its there and while not great, its not bad either.
*Low quality dated textures
Umm...What game are you playing, the graphics look great.
*Old graphic engine, lacks scalability
You mean the SOURCE engine, the one that just gets regular updates along the way instead of releasing in different numbers...
*Retarded Bots...
The point of the bots is to point out other 'Pilots' and to be the grunts. Pilots are the better players and the point is its more like a war with you and the other 5 players being the top officers on the field. Ive heard the bots referred to as "Stormtroopers" of this universe.
*Very Limited Weapons and upgrades
Umm more than enough different weapons for a shooter like this. Each gun has at least 3 upgrades/removable parts and some have more. THey could have added more, but do you really need a 10 different reticles.
*Pathetic gameplay modes
All the major ones and some original ones which are all very fun...Again what game are you playing
Jumping/scaling walls
Also have not been around in along time. Plus Unreal Tournament did not scale walls, you just hit boosters to jump up them. Nice change of pace from the generic shooters coming out in a constant fashion.
Runs at 780p on console
792p actually, still looks great and works just fine.

The game is great and a fun multiplayer experience, it is a fresh way for shooters to be played and I have had a blast with it and I am not the only one.

For around the 10 hours I played Titanfall it just seemed like a bog standard COD type shooter. The robots just felt like I was controlling a larger COD soldier and felt nothing like controlling a giant robot.

I think if you like COD you will like Titanfall otherwise it's just an average fast paced shooter that left me thinking meh..

This game is a ton of fun and I loved almost everything about it. Personally, I think I'm going to be playing this one for a while.

Unlike you, I actually took the time to list some clear facts about the game, yet you resort to adolescent commentary. Sorry to hear you love the game so much it offends you when others reveal negative facts about it. I hope you recover soon.

You are simply making excuses and justifications for everything I listed., That's cool. Your most ridiculous reply is the rationalization of the Bots. Classic.

NO game is without flaws. But Titanfall is nothing but a rehash of a slew of older games all wrapped into one. But with gamers like you around lazy developers and greedy publishers have no incentive to do better.
