Transfering a HDD To a New PC

Hello,

I was curious to know if I could possibly transfer my old PC's HDD to my new PC hard drive without having to reformat the HDD? If I have to reformat, then is there any other way around it so that I don't have to reformat the HDD and still use it on the new PC?

If the CPU chipset changes, then you must run a Repair before allowing Windows to start up, in the new computer

Note: Repair does not remove anything (except Security updates)
So you should run SP3 once completed the repair

Even with a repair there is still a decent chance that you are going to have other problems. It is always recommended to do a clean install when doing a motherboard change. Here are recent examples of problems related to trying to use a Windows install on a different motherboard:
