Weekend Open Forum: Android, iOS, or Windows Phone?

Android for the customisation and the open nature of the os.

I hate being locked down to a specific program for a specific task. Also many many paid apps on IOS and WP are free on android.

Mmmm I'm currently using an LG G2 (Android) phone, which runs flawlessly. I've been too invested into android to switch but I might give a WP or better yet Windows a try when it switches to full system.

Although I'm tempted on getting a Lumia to try it after reading all the comments, on the other hand I hate iOS.

I have been in the nokia family for a while, with symbian, and now my Lumia 620's WP, cheap phone with great features. As for WP, it's a great os, it may be a little hard to use for the first time since everybody around me uses android, but I think it's better than android. Yes, it does not have all the apps, but there are plenty enough for the average user, like me.

I am currently using wp 8.1. Windows phone has a ton of potential. It's light, doesn't take up much resources, fast (unless you consider the loading times of a few apps... terrible it is), and very user freindly. Well, the only problem it has is the community. there are nearly not enough apps in it!! and the ones it does sport? the devs dont care!! most apps aren't even nearly updated as their android or ios counterparts. Oh, and Microsoft!! the worlds most amazing BASTARDS!! they havent yet released cortana or xbox music services to most countries. The United States isn't the only country in the world you know!! (no offense americans, just making a point)

Android on a Droid Razr Max HD. From what I can tell it offers a mostly unadulterated version of Android OS. I know its not 100% unadulterated, but compared to other smart phones I have seen it seems less butchered, and I like that.

I wouldn't touch and iOS device just because of Apples draconian attitude towards ownership of their products. To me it says you are not buying an iOS device, but the "privilege to use it only as Apple sees fit". I want to be able to use my phone how I want to use my phone and screw you apple.
Apple does have a nice eco-system doing for itself with the tablets, desktops, laptops and phones supposed to interlink (although I don't know how well they do this, since I have never owned one).
And I just can't get into Windows on a phone. Played with an old one of my brothers for a couple days and just got annoyed.
I like the idea of Ubuntu coming to a phone, as its currently my favorite OS, but not sure when that will happen, and happen on a good device.
For now I'm sticking with Android and the Google eco-system as I look for my first tablet and contemplate rooting my phone and loading an alternate android OS on it, since the warranty period is about to expire.

I was proud to finally have convinced g/f to buy an HTC One M9 and go with the Android ("do it your way") and ditch her iPhone5 ("do as I say"). She is happy!
But I am not! A month after I converted her, Microsoft announced HTC One M8 for WP ("just like you've been doing it for decades"). I am trying my hardest to not be one of these stats, since putting down my Blackberry Pearl 5 years ago or so:
*4.5 billion individual mobile users worldwide
*5.6 billion will be smartphone subscriptions.
*6.7 billion mobile subscriptions, currently in 2014/02
*92 percent global mobile penetration in Q4 2013
*9.3 billion mobile subscriptions will be reached 2019
Its tough w/o one!

Gotta say I thought I would never stop loving my Android phones, but after buying a Windows phone I probably won't go back any time soon. I love the way the home screen is organized; I find the phone to be a much faster, more intuitive phone to use for work. And I use my phone for work, not for watching videos and fooling around. Surprisingly my Lumia phone is actually faster than my Samsung! Email is faster, websites load faster, and faster app set up. Linking my Outlook accounts was a breeze. Love the way the calendar works. And I even like Cortana. I'm totally sold.
