Weekend Open Forum: Do you pay your bills online?

It's funny, my water bill is the only one that charges a fee for anything except a check and they don't even have the ability for me to pay it online!

I've switched insurance carriers just because I can't pay a bill online for that specific benefit.

I pay all my bills online.

Stamp? Envelope? I know those words, but give me a few hours, I might be able to find these.

You are not the only one. I don't trust the internet and corporations enough to be paying bills online. And my life has been completely fine without doing so.

I decline to answer -- it only seeds identity research to attempt access to those accounts.

There's a new service online that says they will inform you when they find your SSN online -- GRR -- If I NEVER enter it, then it can never be found can it! Sheez Magicullity, Norton offered that 20 years ago and I declined it then too.

Just because someone ASKS, does not mean you are required to respond.

I pay all bills online that I can except for my phone bill because they also want a fee for paying it online. Obviously I'm not going to pay more when I can just as easily mail a check.
Yeah, that was a fairly common, "let's see how stupid you really are test", given out by utilities a few years back. They would tell you it would cost you 3 bucks or something to pay your bill online, so you could save the cost of a 40 cent stamp. I guess that was what they used to call, 'the new math'.

In the same vein, our local electric company produced a PSA commercial, showing you "how to save money on electricity", by pulling all the plugs out of your outlet strips at night, one by one. I don't about you, but I've never seen a outlet strip without an on / off switch (*). Although, I imagine they could have gotten some traction with the ad, if they ran it during 'Honey Boo Boo', reruns.

(*) In fact, there was even a glowing red on / off switch on the outlet strip they were using in the commercial.
