Weekend Open Forum: What is your fondest gaming memory?

I remember when I had to expand de RAM memory to 4mb with a DOS command in order to play DUNE! quite an awesome strategic game!

For pc warcraft 2 with my friends over modem to modem and making custom maps for one another to try out.

Playing NIne Princes in Amber on my Commodore 128. It was (still is) a favourite book of mine, and the game was pretty good for an adventure game, from animation in the pictures and music, through text fighting and walking in Shadow quite freely.

Playing a pirated copy of Knightmare on the Amiga which crashed whenever the character was poisoned, and drawing snakes to a room with fireballs to get them killed without getting close to them.

Playing Tomb Raider with hardware 3D filtering on on my ViRGE (DX I think).

The heights in Jedi Knight.

Playing UT2003 at work and at home.

City of Heroes, a great MMO I spent countless ours at.

The Hobbit on the Spectrum; Tomb Raider (1) with my new Orchid Righteous 3Dfx card; LAN gaming with mates in a cyber cafe in Exeter; fortnightly gaming sessions with a mate that often result in so much hilarity (normally due to absurdly escalating TKs) that playing becomes impossible; Lucas Arts point & clicks.

On C64 playing Giana Sisters, Disposable Heroes and Boulderdash

On Amiga 500 playing Railroad Tycoon, and Civilization. Allways just one more turn. Broke disk 4 of Civilization 3-4 times. Should really have gotten a harddrive for the Amiga

On PC there are many great memories. Doom, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Carmageddon, Screamer.
Also when World of Warcraft came out, that was awesome, however not so much any more.

Now it´s just a bit more casual with Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance and Eve Online

The first console I ever played was Atari 2600, but the climax of my childhood gaming was CONTRA (on Nes). Oh god, it was really GOOD to play it... Since then, never stopped playing games.

Playing Alternate Reality on my little brother's Atari 800XL computer. We played non-stop for a summer and lost track of days! Spending time with my brother was better than the game!

There are so many.

One that springs instantly to mind was when I finished Dune II as the Ordos. That last battle where I had TWO enemies dropping nukes on me was tough! Loved that game.

The first time I ever finished Diablo II on Hell solo. I fought those 3 Ancients for a good 40 minutes of real time, terrified that they would kill me and I'd have to face them again.

I recently replayed the full Mass Effect trilogy, carrying a character through all the games. I thoroughly enjoyed the updated ending this time round -- it made more sense and was more satisfying than the first time which I hated.

Every time I faced an Ethereal in the original XCOM. Or killed one with a Blaster Launcher after he single-handedly decimated most of my squad.

All Monkey Islands!!, not the newer versions! 1 (running on XT 8086 4Mhz hercules... 2 disks of 5 1/4 with 360KB) and 2 (DX2 66Mhz) DOS ones, 3 and 4 Windows, 4 was horrible... (monkey kombat -.-')
