Weekend Open Forum: What was the absolute worst video game ever produced?

I've played hundreds of games in my life and only a few deserve a place upon my shelf. The rest end up in the recycle bin (metaphorically speaking). The five-star titles are easy to remember but many of the rubbish games get lost in the fog of time.

I'm sure you all will remind me of worse games but the worst one that I can recall was Assassin's Creed Unity. Ubisoft should be ashamed of itself for releasing that title.

Even putting the multitude of bugs that the game shipped with aside, I did not find the story that engaging. The characters felt rushed and there seemed to be a general disconnect from the rest of the franchise. A completely forgettable title.

Are there any games worse than AC:U? I bet you'll tell me.

Permalink to story.

The submarine sim Silent Hunter V was awful, just awful. Silent Hunter III was one of the best games I've ever played, Silent Hunter IV was good, but not great. Silent Hunter V was pure crap. I would have been more satisfied flushing the money I paid for that game down the toilet.

Duke Nukem Forever. A cash grab, pure and simple.

The bad indie titles are endless (and essentially unplayed). So I'm not counting those.
Yes! I excluded them as well because they are a dime a dozen. There are so many trash titles coming from indie studios that have no values; they might as well be panhandling.

You fools. Dig into your history and look at Rise of the Robots on the SNES

When I was a wee lad...some kid in my neighborhood had the audacity to come to my front door and offered a trade for my Killer Instinct for his Rise of the Robots. If I could, I would like to slap him repeatedly across the face if I could turn back time, lol.

That is a hard question. I played Duke Forever and it was a bad game I never finished. Frankly I am glad it was released. I was a NFS fan and several of those were dogs. I am off that series. SOF 3 was bad but I finished it.
The new Shadow Warrior was a travesty. My choice for worst: The Typing of the Dead

When I was 6 or so my mom got Phantasmagoria, and she would rush us home from school to play it. That game threw my mom into a deep depression when she beat it, so it tops the list for awesome games.

I think I will see if I can get a copy of Phantasmagoria 2 for her for Christmas.

To me DLC has just about ruined all current games. Esp if its pay for, and storyline related.

Mass Effect: Andromeda. All accounts to the contrary are the product of hallucinations.

Haha, yes. That game was bad but at least we knew it was coming. Kind of hard not to see the declining popularity and quality of nearly every EA franchise. The best thing to happen to the gaming industry would be for them to go under and sell off all the IP they locked away in the closet.

Hell yes, Phantasmagoria. That must be the worst game ever invented.

Alone in the Dark 2 (1993) and 3 (1994) was extremely bad sequels that should never have been released.

Chrono Cross. I hated that game with the passion of 10 Horny Nerds.

Road Rash for Sega Saturn was very terrible as well.

I never played a game I hated. Lots of NFS and assassin's creed were boring and I played 30 minutes most before never returning to them again. But I cant recall a single game that I found awful.

Driv3r. After a hour of laborious, dull and uninteresting playing with broken controls and no remapping possible, I had more than enough. I pirated a lot of my games back then and that title was one of them so I felt some satisfaction in breaking and chucking the disk into the bin. I would've been annoyed if I had spent a dime on it, let alone pay the RRP.

I don't like to advocate violence, but beating him to death with the game cartridge would have been acceptable
