Which video card?

Hey all,

I am planning an upgrade to my PC in the next week or so and was looking for some suggestions. (this is a gaming machine)

Here are my spec's as of now:

-Intel P4 2.8 Ghz 800 Mhz System Bus
-Asus P4P88 Deluxe
-2x 256 sticks DDR400 RAM
-Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro Catalyst 5.1 drivers
-CDRW drive 52x 24x 52x, DVD-Rom drive, DVD-RW drive
-21" SyncMaster monitor.
-30Gb Hard drive

I have around $200-$500 to work with for this particular upgrade. The two main areas that I decided to attack was the video card and the RAM. I am just looking for opinions on the choices that I have made.

Here are my choice upgrades:

Video Card:
PNY GeForce 6800GT - $332

Is this the right choice? Is there enough increased performance with the GT rather than the 6800 to warrent paying $100 more?

RAM:
1 GB (2 pcs 512) DDR (500) PC-4000 Patriot - $162

Is this the right RAM to go with for a gamer? Or is there a better choice?

Thanks in advance to any advice given! :giddy:

Which card? PNY 6800GT or XFX 6800GT

Hey all,

I have narrowed my upgrades down and I have one final question...

Which brand should I go with? XFX or PNY?

I hear that PNY has a great warranty, but I am still not sure. Does either one stick out as the better performer?

Thanks,
Lyr

GO with the PNY

you should go with the Pny is more reliable and i heard they o/c good but you wont notice much difference between the two.

Thats is good choice i just wanted to show u the price diffrence between the two cards . with the same features.

anyway enjoy ur new card. :grinthumb
