Subservient:

I'm not too far away in Hamilton, that's about 30 minute drive for the rest of you. Remember this is Ontario which is larger then England and many of us commute/drive 60-70 minutes to work each day (one way!). My commute is from Hamilton to Oakville each day ( about 30-50 mins depending on the traffic and weather conditions) sigh.

Surabaya, Indonesia on the island of Java (mmmm coffee) right beside Bali. NO never heard of it!

For those in North America, have you seen the stupid Coke commercial with the Polar bear family coming across a group of singing/celebrating Penguins? Can ppl in the movie/TV industry be MORE stupid (not to mention Coke execs)? One species lives at the North Pole and the other mostly found at the South Pole. Could they be any farther apart!!!

The distance here are much shorter, alas the times are the same or longer.

i know where indonesia is, is that close enough? just consiuder yourself lucky you don't have chicago winters. today it was 1 deg. farenheit (about -15 deg. celcius)

It's always 30 - 35 deg. celcius (86 - 95 deg. fahrenheit) here all year long and I've never seen snow in my entire life. The mosquitos are buzzing all year long and it's always flooding in rainy season (oct - mar, or right about now...), but the most outrageous thing here is the internet fee (about US$ 410/month for a puny 384 kbps DSL)

Yes, I visited a friend in Bishop Stouffer for a week, a few years back and he'd driver 1.5-2hrs each way to the British Telecom/Nortel site just north of London (can't remember the town name, might recogz it if I heard it again).

Commuting sucs, but $410US/month for internet wins the prize! :)

LOL I'm about half a world away from most of you. I live in Rolla, Sharjah the latter being a city in the United Arab Emirates
P.S. - You've heard of Dubai, haven't you?

wow. we're paying $40/month for 6 mb/s cable inet (384 kb/s upload). and you get basic cable too. for an extra $20/month you can get high-def digital cable, comes with a dvr built into the tuner box. are all ISPs out there that expensive or is there only one?

well, i've always said that the politics and media in this country have gone to s***.

i know a guy that lives in roselle and drives to calumet city everyday for work, a good 50 miles (81 km) and he spends two hours on the expressway if he's lucky.

Wow!

My ISP is Cox Communications- I got 4M down, 512k up, and it's $40/mo!! plus $5 more for my mom's networked comp. That doesn't include cable TV! I'm buyin a parka and movin to Chi-town! :monkey:

reminds me when I deployed with the Army to Korea. The weather is miserable there also all year round....

Right now I'm El Paso, Texas. The weather is hot in the summer and the winters mild. Seldom snows... maybe a dusting once a winter.....

I hate cold. I have lived in Montana, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Montana was the worst.

Maryland's not too bad because most winter storms are blocked by the Appalachian mountains to the west. Pennsylvania was horrible. Montana was terrible -not to mention boring.

no offense, but I also found the people very rude and cold in general also.
Quite a difference once you get south of the mason-dixon in Maryland.

I lived in Latrobe for 3 years and worked in Greensburg.

I was happy to leave.... El Paso has been real good for me.
Unfortunately I have to move again in a month to central Texas.

See You In York!!

Let's see, I live in England in a small town called Pocklington near a medium sized city called York. Note that I was born in Phoenix, Arizona and therefore am American.

If you do want to meet, I don't see why anyone would want to meet a 14 year old little kid, but if you do; send me a PM :) .

Tim - Its funny that you live near to York, England but you have your location as Scottsdale, Ari. Are you living with your parents? Why am I asking all this......we plan to be in England early 2006 as a prize I won in a contest sponsored by ESPN in conjuction with Formula One and our local Straits Times newspapers. I specially would like to visit York as I had some fond memories of this town. It would be a great pleasure to meet up with you and yours. Please keep in touch. Regards  :grinthumb

careful about admitting your age.... I'm sure your folks would object..... there are a lot of weirdos on the net who have nefarious deisgns on teenagers.....

like molestment.....

I wouldn't go about meeting people on the net unless they were around my own age and I was with other people.

I did basic at Bliss in '68. I sure as hell wouldn't brag on the place! (course, El Paso is the gateway to Juarez!)

As Phant put it, I am not lacking friends, nor am I going to lock you in my basement for thirty years ;) .

Should an opportunity arises, I would wish to meet up with your parents - as we intend to be in York in the near future. Good luck. :)

you wouldn't recognize it..... I have been stationed here 3 times and it has changed and grown so much , I barely recognize it.
Basic training was closed here in 1996.

The cavalry left to Ft. Carson, then just came back in 2005. Of course Air Defense is still here, but it's getting scattered. I'm being transferred to Ft. Hood at the end of the month and then to Iraq in Jan '07
