Why do my FPS drop in any game.

Can sombody help me.
I just made a new computer and the stats are pretty good.
But when i play a game for a few mins the fps drop like crazy for e.g. today i was playing half life 2 and i was running 30 fps and after a few mins it dropped to 10. My video card is a radeon 9250 128mb.
My computer has all the recommended requirments except for the graphics card which meets minimum requirments.
And also my fast write does the matter? but my AGP are 8x.
Is it because my harware is to hot?
