Why doesn't android file transfer work on mac computer?

I have a mac computer and an android phone and I have been trying to use android file transfer but it isnt working, and I was wondering if any one else has had this issue before what have you done to make it work? it says " cannot connect try restarting or reconnecting your phone".

I would guess that the Mac firewall is not allowing FTP ports 20 &21

Did you just delete the app or did you use the uninstaller that came with it?

HUH? Macs don't use an uninstaller! Not certain the Android does either . . .

Yes, the quickest path to a solution would be using a PC

Because it is a Mac! Apple doesn't like android! Why Would they allow someone to file transfer from a android device!
