Hey everyone new to this site hope someone can help! Running asus P4P800-mx motherboard with onboard video, sound, lan. Has 512m ram, 2.6 P4, 160g maxtor harddrive, win xp home. Everytime I load the video driver off the motherboard cd windows comes up to the windows xp logo then goes to black screen right before log on screen. Light on monitor goes from green to amber. Tried updated driver, no good. Video is Intel 82865g graphics Extreme. Must boot into safe mode and disable video. Any ideas? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks fairland57

Could it be that you didn't uninstall the existing graphics driver before installing another?

There was nothing on the harddrive because I reformated then reinstalled windows. The old partition had goback installed from old motherboard and found out you had to do a low level format to get rid of it. Did that using maxtors software then did a high level format with windows and installed windows. Thanks for the input.
