All instructions complete, but...

Ran windows updates, updated many programs from FileHippo, did a reboot.

Computer is a tad slow at the moment with cpu usage hovering around 100%.

Is this to be expected for a bit due to all the updates?

Download Process Explorer: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
Unzip ProcessExplorer.zip, and double click on procexp.exe to run the program.
Click on View > Select Colunms.
In addition to already pre-selected options, make sure, the Command Line is selected, and press OK.
Go File>Save As, and save the report as Procexp.txt.
Attach the file to your next reply.

Something is not right.

I can't get into My Documents, My Computer, or Desktop.

Tried to run Process Explorer and when I clicked File>Save As, computer froze.

This is the first time I've been able to get on the internet.

Network connections has been screwy, not being able to connect until I unplugged the modem.

Currently running Secunia and Windows Update is installing the downloaded update files.

Will try to get access to Procexp.txt ASAP.

When I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, IE comes up as well as Task Mgr.

Also, IE comes up by itself a few times but never connects to home page.

Procexp.exe scans & status

When I click on Start>My Documents, it doesn't do anything. When I try again, the menu doesn't even come up after clicking Start. Computer pretty much freezes.

Also, on a reboot, the Active Desktop Recovery displays.

CPU is still at 100%.

I'm finally able to boot into Safe Mode and will display the scans from Process Exp.

I'll find out. I'm going to reboot into normal mode and see how everything is.

I'm assuming I should download Spybot again and see if having just one version
works better?

Also does Google Desktop hog the cpu or present any security issues? When I downloaded the program updates, it reappeared as I haven't used it in awhile.

It's a tool of the past.
Use Malwarebytes occasionally.

OK no Spybot.

Everything appears to be normal other than I get Active Desktop Recovery notice.

When I click on Restore Active Desktop, I receive:

I clicked on Stop Scripts but no desktop recover.

Right-click anywhere on the Desktop and click Properties
In Display Properties change to the Desktop tab, where you will see a monitor image with your wallpaper and the list of images below it
Choose any other image in the list than the one currently selected and then select the original image used as wallpaper and click Ok, your wallpaper is back! ( To make this step simpler just selct the image above or below the currently selected one and then select the original image then click Ok )
