Windows 10 will begin reserving 7GB or more for updates

Can't blame MS cause you use a small hard drive. That's on you. Invest in a bigger hard drive or do what smart people and don't use your ssd for everything.
Their updates bundle new "features" too. Bloatware. I don't need Xbox components, Cortana and a Notepad upgrade.
If they didn't bundle crap with their security updates, you may have a point.

What's the issue? 7gb is nothing. I don't use or like windows but I've had dual 1tb drives for about 5 years on my laptop. Never had space issues.

My solution to the windows virus was to install Linux. Not something I would suggest for everyone but I moved over about 20 years ago and never looked back. Only time I use Windows is when helping people at work. I don't even use Windows as my desktop for work, we mostly use Mac pro laptops. All the software we write is web based and can be used on any os with a browser, although that Windows browser is probably the least compatible. I forsee windows migrating to being a Linux flavor when it's rewritten next. They have already started migrating their server platforms.

That all depends on how the system is set up. I install all applications to the data partition. Doing that, the OS uses less than 25GB. This allows for an extremely small backup system image. I'm not giving an OS that should run on 15GB any more than 40GB to run with. And that is probably 10GB worth of Bloat I never use. Now they want to add 9GB more, when I handle updating manually. Or at least I try before their sh!t builds automatically start installing.

Windows is a evolving ecosystem, there wont be another windows coming. It's just like Apple.
MS aren't the only ones who mislead, steal data or are even sleazy, ALL companies do that including Apple and Google.

I don't use apple. I do have android and I know this - it's even worse, and cell phones are where this crap all started. I used a dumb phone up until about 5 years ago by choice.

My statement is that, at least very minimally before, that MS didn't do this. More companies are following suit.

I will add that 7GB is nothing for all the patches they shovel out. That's about 6 months of patching.

My 256GB SSD is already so short on space, I have no way of making another 7GB for MS junk. Will have to disable all future updates now :(
Good luck if your running windows 10 you will be forced to install all updates as your operating system is not yours to do with as you please. I still wonder why fanbois glorify windows 10. It's complete trash.

Default Windows installation after several major updates and with using the Cleaning tool is about 15 GB. The problem is you guys.
Just my C:\Windows folder is 19.8 GB. That's after a fresh install and the two 2018 updates, and yes, I frequently use the cleaning tool. Seems the problem is elsewhere.
Wipe out the partitions and clean install gets it small, but is a PITA. Windows is not only way too big, but then realize there is a recovery partition as well that contains windows. F**k how much space do MS want?

It really is complete garbage , packed with all types of backdoors stealing your info and despite what some say there is no way to turn it all off .

So, if people monitor network data to figure out what Windows is sending out how is it possible to not turn it all off?

After actually deleting these programs I have not had them come back in updates. Not just uninstalling, actually deleting.

No, you can only defer them to a later date. Eventually they will install regardless. Unless you find a way to kill Windows Update completely.

U can certainly turn them off in the group policy editor.
