Windows boots very slowly

Hi everyone.
I have a problem and I was hoping someone could help me~!
My computer all of a sudden became really slow
and I turned it off and turned it back on
but the black page with the windows symbol and the bar scrolling
across was on forever! So I turned it off and turned it back on again
and it took like 10 minutes for everything to actually load.
Also, when I try to watch something on youtube the sound is weird..
I guess it's skipping? or distorted? because my computer is so slow.
Could someone please please help me?

I've tried searching for other threads but my log is different

hmmmm.

You should start by going into msconfig (in the run commmand) and going to the startup tab. Here it will show a list of all programs launched on startup, From here uncheck all the boxes belonging to programs that arent absolutely necassery to basic use. Then reboot and see how long start up takes after the reconfiguration.

Hi thank you for replying. I've done all of that but it still doesn't fix the problem. I've run norton antivirus scan, spybot, and adaware but it still doesn't seem to fix the problem. I've even had the hardware checked and there's no problems there. Can anyone understand why my computer all of a sudden became very very slow... slow enough that when playing music or videos the sound is distorted? Do you think reformatting the computer will fix the problem??

OH! and i've also tried doing system restore but every single restore point i choose it says that it cannot complete it and no changes were made and to choose a different date. Does anyone know why that is??
Please help!
I've just spent almost 100 bucks.. on getting it NOT fixed.
