windows restart hang

Hello,
ok I hope I've come to the gods of windows...lol..

My problem is when I restart windows or when I'm asked to restart windows it hangs. I then have to do a complete shut down to restart. Where it hangs is at the windows logo screen where that star trek type bar is bouncing back n forth. Can anyone help??

Where you loading software or drivers that caused you to restart Windows? It sounds like you are running XP .Many things can cause this behavior.
More info is needed.
I would go to windows knowledge base and start with the 'start up freeze 'problem ,or issues relating to what you were doing when the problem started.
