WTF i can't burn cds!!!

i've installed said patch and restarted and whatnot. unfortunately, nothing changed. it still won't burn anything.

i guess that leaves only the better quality disc...and i've got no money at the moment so i'm kinda screwed for a little bit. but i'll let you know what happens. until then, keep those possible solutions coming.

the latest development:

i haven't had a chance to get a new cd to test out. but i found out that this drive can't read anything either seemingly. i threw in a fujifilm that had something written on it already and nothing came up. then i threw in my Call of Duty 2 cd and still got nothing. so it can't burn or read...???????

either replace the cable that connects the cd drive or the cd reader/writer. the cable would be the cheapest if it has not been replaced.
