Dell is doing very well in PC sales right now, and is beating its arch rival Hewlett-Packard too. The Round Rock, Texas-based company has managed to increase its PC shipments by more than 20 percent this year, ensuring that HP says in second place. Dell's market share in the third quarter climbed to 18.2 percent, from 16.9 percent a year earlier. Similarly, PC shipments increased 20.7 percent year-over-year to 8.1 million.

HP continues to be the market leader in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), but its market share remains flat year-over-year at 15 percent.
