ATI will launch a version of the Radeon X300 next year with memory sharing technology, in a move that mirrors similar efforts on NVIDIA's part to bring "Turbocache" to their cards. The new ATI memory sharing technology will allow a GPU to render directly to system memory, boosting performance greatly.

ATI also plans to bring a technology to their cards which compete with NVIDIA's SLI technology, but with increased functionality. For example, it will be possible to achieve the ATI equivalent of SLI by using an additional connector to connect the two cards.
