I was a little unsure as to whether to post this one or not. According to secret information obtained from inside the heart of Microsoft (apparently!), the official name for Longhorn (the next generation Windows OS) has already been chosen. This may be speculation. It may, indeed, be truth. Indeed, truth is often stranger than fiction. But anyway, the name is.... drum roll....

Microsoft Windows e-XPedition.

Some smarty-pants at Microsoft has seemingly come up with this very clever use of word play. Apparently, the name is intended to invoke notions of 'e-home' as well as the familiar 'XP' and Media Centre 'Edition', elements of which are all found in Longhorn.

Q. Where do you want to go today?

A. On a Windows e-XPedition.

This information should be treated as rumour until we know better, and may in all likelihood turn out to be complete and utter bunkum. Still, there is something funny about that name...
