This week, Vonage moved for a retrial in the case brought against them by Verizon. Verizon wanted that motion denied and the courts of sided with them. Vonage will not be getting a retrial, and will instead have to follow an appeals process. It's a slight setback for the ailing VoIP company, but by no means the end of the fight. Likely they'll continue appealing and fighting this for some time to come, especially since they've been granted a stay on the injunction that barred them from signing up new users.

The real question is, what will happen to Vonage customers should they ultimately lose? If so much money has to be paid to Verizon the the company shuts down, a lot of people might lose service. On the other hand, Verizon might use the opportunity to take them over.
