AMD has been suffering lately, largely due to Intel's current stellar sales for CPUs and their purchase of ATI, which has hit them hard. Now, they have released their second quarter financial results for this year, showing just how much hurt they have suffered.
With a loss of $130 million from "ATI acquisition-related and integration charges", stock compensation, severance charges and others, they are reporting a loss of $600 million. This is on top of the loss $504 million they lost in the first quarter this year, significantly down from 2006 in which they were making ample profits.
For AMD's sake, I hope they turn things around. In the press release, they break the losses down between departments. Interestingly enough, demand for their GPUs remained the same - not something you'd expect from a company that just changed hands.
