AMD's Radeon HD 4850 has only been out for a few days but if you've already picked one up following its surprise launch last week, you may want to grab the latest graphics driver hotfix. The update applies to both the 4850 and the unreleased Radeon HD 4870, and though no specific details are available, the software notes claim that it "improves overall performance and stability" on the 4800 series.

The hotfix includes the Display Driver and Catalyst Control Center, so users presumably won't need to install this on top of the Catalyst 8.6 drivers that came out a day ahead of the card's launch. Radeon HD 4850 owners can get the hotfix driver which is available for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of both Windows XP and Windows Vista.
