Since the departure of the Final Fantasy series from the Super Nintendo, Sony has enjoyed a nearly exclusive presence of the games on their consoles. With few exceptions, the FF series and PlayStation have gone hand in hand, which has been welcome to Sony who tries to play up the advantage of exclusive content.

Unfortunately for them, they are losing that particular exclusive advantage with the next iteration of Final Fantasy. Square announced in a recent press conference that Final Fantasy XIII will be available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. What's more, Microsoft won't have to wait months for their version, with FF XIII for the Xbox being made available on the same day as on the PS3.

That's definitely a plus in the Xbox 360 arena, and for every title that is released on both platforms is one less reason for a 360 owner to pitch in for a PS3.
