MSI has announced the US availability of its P600 and S6000 "thin and light" notebooks, which were originally unveiled back in March. The machines are virtually identical, featuring a 15.6-inch 1366x768 display, an Intel Core i5-450M CPU and GMA HD graphics, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 500GB of storage, and an ultra-slim DVD drive. However, the P600 carries an eight-cell battery with a max life of eight hours while the S6000 cuts that in half, lowering the system weight from 5.3lbs to 5.0lbs.

Each also has a multipoint touchpad, a 3-in-1 card reader, HDMI and D-sub output, two USB 2.0 ports with an eSATA combo, Ethernet and 802.11b/g/n network connectivity, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, and they ship with Windows 7 Home Premium x64. The press release seems to have the wrong dimensions (0.14 inches thick), but the previous announcement claims 15.43 x 10.03 x 1.42 inches. Units are currently available online with the P600 priced at $730 and the S6000 at $700.
