Lionhead Studios, the creators of the popular Fable series, have revealed that the company is open to producing games that fall outside of the Fable universe. In a recent interview with Eurogamer, studio head John Needham pointed out that although the company's primary focus is the Fable brand, that doesn't mean that other projects are not in the works. "We're working on other games, too," said Needham. "We're working on other different sorts of games as well that we're not talking about right now and won't be Fable-esque."

This wouldn't be the first time Lionhead has produced something other than a choose-your-own adventure-RPG. Prior to the release of the original Fable, back in 2004, Lionhead was responsible for a variety of other titles, including popular releases like Black and White and The Movies. Black and White received critical acclaim from a variety of outlets when it was first released and even boasted a Metacritic score over 90%. Although some critics changed their mind about the title after spending more time with it, and GameSpy even labeled it as its most overrated game of all time (published back in 2003).

Unfortunately, Needham remained tight-lipped concerning any of the side projects. We do know that Lionhead is currently developing a variety of Fable-based products with Fable Legends, Fable Anniversary, and the Fable Trilogy Bundle. Hopefully we will hear more about these proposed side projects in the near future.
