Apple's annual iTunes Festival is heading to the United States for the first time ever. The five-night concert will kick off on March 11 at ACL Live at the Moody Theater in Austin, Texas, and run through March 15 as part of the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival according to a press release on the matter.

The concert series typically showcases top-level talent and this year looks to be no different. The preliminary lineup includes Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Pitbull, Keith Urban and ZEDD, just to name a few. The full lineup hasn't been revealed as of writing but I suspect it'll fill out over the coming weeks.

If you aren't able to make it to Austin to see the performances live, fret not as all five nights will be available for free as a live and on-demand stream via the iTunes Store. Naturally, it'll be accessible via iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC and on Apple TV.

The festival has been hosted in London since its inception in 2007. Since that time, more than 400 artists have taken the stage in front of over 430,000 attendees and millions more watching online around the globe. This year's event, however, will be noticeable shorter than the London events - five days versus a month-long talent showcase.

SXSW is an annual film, interactive and music festival / conference that takes place each spring in Austin. The event got its start back in 1987 and has served as a breeding ground for new ideas and creative technologies for the past several years.
