Aside from too-aggressive local dimming, the Cooler Master GP2711 has no real flaws. It has a colorful and contrasty image with premium video processing that delivers smooth and responsive gaming. Highly Recommended.

The Cooler Master GP2711 is a gaming monitor aimed at gamers who care about color, especially HDR. After some tweaking, the GP2711 has fantastic color, but unfortunately, it falls short when it comes to speed due to its 4ms response time.

The GP2711 offers a proper HDR experience thanks to its local dimming zones, but it is badly let-down by lacklustre response times and noticeable smearing.

With a rich, crisp, responsive image free from ghosting, and coming at a seriously affordable price point, the Cooler Master Tempest GP2711 shows how serious they are about entering the display market, and it wins our OC3D Gamers Choice Award.

All in all it’s a good screen for general uses and certainly for HDR movies and video. The VA panel and high end Mini LED backlight put it well ahead of most monitors in this price bracket. If you’re a casual or occasional gamer it should still manage well (apart from if you’re using a console), but it’s not as well suited as their previous IPS-based models if you’re looking for a faster screen for more serious or competitive gaming.
