The Dell S2722QC offers 4K, USB-C, HDR, and integrated speakers for a uniquely affordable price, but makes some image quality sacrifices to hit its low cost. It’s a good everyday productivity monitor that you should buy for its features, not its performance.

The Dell S2722QC is an excellent 4K IPS monitor if you consider how well-designed it is along with its performance. The monitor looks attractive and it carries in-demand features like USB-C while its IPS panel offers great image quality with more potential when calibrated. These characteristics make it an excellent monitor for daily use, including some professional and gaming applications.

The Dell offers USB-C support, superior ergonomics, a better brightness adjustment range and basic HDR support. It has the more solid stand of the two and some may prefer the styling – though that is always going to remain subjective. The Philips we tested offered better gamma calibration with adjustable gamma settings, better pixel response time tuning (though not a huge difference there) and is the cheaper offering. Ultimately, most people in the market for this sort of model would be perfectly happy with either offering.

We liked the Dell UltraSharp S2722QC quite a bit, making this another great addition to the company’s already impressive portfolio of UHD displays. While we recommend larger monitors like the 38-inch UltraSharp U3821DW for those who have a bigger budget and who want to replace two monitors with a single display, the S2722QC is a perfect choice for those looking for an affordable option with great image quality.
