Gigabyte TRX40 Aorus Extreme
We have to admit that it maybe doesn't feel like it's worth nearly £150 more than the Asus ROG Zenith II Extreme - the latter looks equally good and sports most of the same features, too. However, if you need the best of practically everything, including insane amounts of storage and cutting-edge networking, and have a suitably enormous wallet, then it doesn't get much more extreme than this.

Performance of all the TRX40 motherboards we’ve looked at has been very close and the Master is no exception. At stock you can’t tell the difference between any of the motherboards really, such is the consistency of the TRX40 chipset and Ryzen TR 3960X combination. The Aorus Master has plenty of overclocking potential pushing 4.3 GHz through all 24 cores, and the results generally back up this level of performance in our benchmarks. The only area that might give you pause is the temperatures of the passively cooled VRMs, but even here the Master might be warmer than the other boards we’ve looked at but is still below 70°C which is cool by any other standard.

Overall, this has got to be one of the most impressive motherboards I have seen and tested to date. It could have easily deserved a top pick award if it had not been this expensive. Crazy prices, but it is a crazy platform. As a motherboard, we certainly can wholeheartedly recommend it though we like to remind you that TRX40 motherboards can be spotted starting as 'low' as 400 USD.
