With a built-in fan hub with support for up to 7 fans in total on the board, and with CAM and Hue+ RGB software support, I believe NZXT’s first PC component is worth shouting about. Sure, there are a couple of pitfalls highlighted in the ‘what’s not’ section, but the BIOS and overclocking issues is only a BIOS fix away and providing NZXT/ECS do this, the N7 is a winner in my eyes… and oh boy, isn’t it gorgeous?
It lacks a few bits and pieces, such as Type-C and USB 3.0, as well as only having four, not six SATA ports. For me, that’s not an issue, as my gaming system doesn’t need what isn’t there. What it lacks, it makes up for in style though, and I’m sure that’s going to be a big selling point for this motherboard. It’s not cheap, but you get respectable performance and some value-adding extras included that help sweeten the deal, so I certainly recommend it.
NZXT are probably most famous for their case range, with many of their models adorning the desks of gamers everywhere.Much like other big manufacturers though, cases aren't all that NZXT provide. We're sure that our discerning readership are aware...
This is particularly so given the pricing of the N7 which instantly placed it up against some of the most famous names around, the ASUS Strix, Gigabyte Aorus and MSI Carbon. In fact NZXT could have been forgiven for choosing a more subtle approach, entering somewhat lower down the price range and building up a fan base from that point. Something akin to the early Japanese cars reaching European shores.
With the matte black and matte white options, the removable and colour customizable armour covers, the minimalist design, it really is a striking motherboard. And it is a striking motherboard with excellent fan control capabilities. Regrettably, its RGB LED lighting capabilities are powerful but unutilized from the factory, and it is a little lacking in the connectivity department.
This board really shines when it comes to actually building a system with it. NZXT has clearly given a lot of thought to the placement of all the PWM, RGB, and USB headers, and provided plenty of each type to boot.
That said, the appearance is unlike the other boards and can really provide a very clean look in black or white. To me, that is long overdue again in the market. The choices are tough out there, but the NZXT N7 will be a more than capable base for a Z370 based system.
While NZXT has been known for its super sleek computer cases, its RGB fans, and the ever-useful Puck, at CES 2018 they've unveiled their first foray into the motherboard market with the N7 Z370 motherboard. Sorry Mass Effect fans, no connection to...
