Among the Sleep is ultimately a cool experience worth seeing through to the end. There’s a novelty to the perspective that’s hard to deny, and when the game focuses on that it’s great. If you enjoy a brisk, atmospheric journey from a fresh perspective, Among the Sleep is a solid choice.
Our editors hand-pick similar games based on a broad set of criteria: they may be direct competitors targeting the same player base, or they could be games that share similar themes, gameplay mechanics, or artistic styles.
I understand the comfort that comes from having a bear.I still have my childhood bear. I'm very attached to him. He's old, his head is falling off and his nose is smooth. He smells like an accumulation of years — musty yet warm, something that fills me...
A curious, frightful take on childhood trauma that whips up scares from the most seemingly mundane sources. Among the Sleep is unpolished and scrappy, yet eerily...

The environments look quite pretty despite being ill-conceived as horror fodder, and Krillbite have done a good job of making you feel like you’re in the body of a toddler (I’d like to see how it works on an Oculus Rift), but those disparate elements mean next to nothing when the game they’re supporting doesn’t work as intended.

Among The Sleep is a horror experience that’s more interested in exploring the nature of childhood trauma than in providing big scares (though there are still a couple to be had), and that’s no bad thing. Its story is sparse and the impact of its conclusion isn’t fully worked through, yet it’s worth playing for the way in which it manipulates perspective and transforms everyday locations into nightmarish reflections.
Among the Sleep is the dream of a toddler with bigger problems to worry about than whether there's a monster under the bed. It's wonderfully staged, extremely creepy... and doesn't really work, not least because your avatar quickly starts to feel less...
With a shallow story, no interesting puzzles, and no reason to poke around the meaning-devoid world except to solve those uninteresting puzzles, Among the Sleep only accomplishes the minimum of its pitch: being a baby is weird, unsettling, and makes for some very effective scares in a fantasy horror setting.
I never did much beyond walking or crawling from one cool visual setpiece to the next, but these terrifying mindscapes carried Among the Sleep and transformed it into something I'm glad I experienced.
Cute, and sometimes unnerving, Among the Sleep draws the player to an affecting conclusion, but its banal puzzles and shallow storytelling doesn't do a lot to inspire many thrills.
