Destiny 2: Lightfall

Lightfall does less with Destiny 2 in a narrative sense than previous expansions, but improves the quality of life considerably.

Prior to Lightfall, I felt Destiny was at its strongest point ever. The narrative was exceptional, the character development was unrivaled by any other FPS, and the future seemed both terrifying and wildly exciting. After Lightfall, I am still intrigued to see what happens next, but I think that lies solely with my thousands of logged hours and personal emotional investment that may not exist for new players. There is so much potential in Destiny for newcomers, but it isn’t easy to find, and Bungie often doesn’t help them along the way.

Still, Destiny 2 is a fantastic game and the rest of the expansion is excellent, but is this the best Destiny has ever been? No. Will Bungie get the ship back on course though? Undoubtedly. However, if 2024's finale (Destiny 2: The Final Shape) follows suit with a lacklustre campaign as we've seen in Lightfall, well... then there will be a LOT of unhappy Guardians.

Since Destiny 2 is a live service game, many changes will likely arrive in the upcoming days and that’s something that I'm sure of. Although Strand does feel a bit weak right now, some Fragments are still locked. When these Fragments go live after the raid race ends, I think there’s a chance that the subclass will feel more powerful than it is right now.
