Entertaining and delivered with the level of sheen we've come to expect from Telltale adventures, Tales of the Borderlands offers a more action-focused fiesta than The Walking Dead, but lacks the focus and originality it needs to look like anything but a slightly inferior mirror of all the studio has published before.
The first episode of Telltale's venture into the world of Pandora, Tales from the Borderlands is finally here, and it's everything we wanted it to be. It's like playing a heist movie set in the Borderlands universe we've come to know and love
It's possible that I've enjoyed Tales From the Borderlands more than the other Telltale games due to me being a fan of Borderlands. With that said, you're getting nothing crazy new from this Telltale game. If you're looking to get your fix in gun...
By seamlessly weaving creative humor, some of which is entirely player-driven, into a narrative that constantly leaves players guessing, “Zer0 Sum” is as good of a pilot as we’ve seen in an episodic game. Regardless of where Rhys and Fiona’s ridiculous journey take them next, hysterical one-liners, tense moments, and intense struggles are sure to follow. The biggest question here isn’t whether or not Tales from the Borderlands is worth your time; it’s when will Telltale’s incredible run finally come to an end?
However, and I'm still not convinced Tales From The Borderlands won't end up being another middling excursion alongside Telltale's forgettable Jurassic Park and Back To The Future series. Like Zero Sum's cliffhanger ending, the future of Telltale's newest series is currently anyone's guess.
Any of Tales from the Borderlands Episode 1: Zer0 Sum's minor setbacks feel like nothing when put up against the strength of the characters, the caliber of the writing, and the charm of the world. With only a brief introduction to Rhys and Fiona, they...
Tales from the Borderlands Episode 1: Zer0 Sum is everything I’d expected from Telltale’s take on this franchise, executed with such skill that it’s hard to find anything to complain about. This first episode of a five-episode season never went more than a few minutes without moving the story along or making me laugh. It’s an enjoyable, violent and well-crafted introduction to the series. Episode Two can’t come soon enough.
Tales From the Borderlands is the latest game from Telltale, the studio that brought you The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. You'd think this means that they were bringing us a serious game about moral choice where people will die based on tough...
Platform: PC (Reviewed), PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox OneWhen you have a popular franchise filled with unique characters and lore you can be tempted to make several sequels and spin-offs. With Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel launching just a month ago,...
If there's a disappointment, it's that when the overall arc of the story - so far - is hinted at, it's summed up with the line "One way or another, everything on Pandora is leading you to a vault..." Vaults are easily Borderlands' least interesting plot element, and hopefully there's something more interesting going on than just another treasure hunt. Whatever the destination though, it's looking like the journey there is going to be a hell of a ride.
I often finish an episode of a Telltale game thinking it was great, and that I had better tell everyone about it right away because it's stupid that they're not playing it. But then a few minutes later someone actually asks me about it and doubt busts...
Tales from the Borderlands is a game I've been looking forward to for a while, thanks to having enjoyed the comedy of the original games far more than the shooty-shooty stuff that never quite clicked. A cursor is more my kind of weapon than any...
