Gaming Performance

These gaming benchmarks were conducted using the Radeon HD 5870 and not the integrated graphics engine. Those results are on the next few pages...

With the help of a 28% clock speed advantage, the Phenom II X4 965 defeats the Core i5 750 when testing with Unreal Tournament 3. There is very little difference in performance when comparing the AMD chipsets.

Interestingly when testing Street Fighter IV for the first time we see the 890GX chipset providing a small performance advantage over the 785G. This is an unexpected result though, even with the minor speed bump the Core i5 750 was still faster at 1024x768.

The Far Cry 2 results are even more interesting. While the Core i5 750 processor was significantly faster at 1024x768, it was also much slower at 1920x1200. The performance drop from 1024x768 to 1920x1200 was much less severe when looking at the Phenom II X4 965, largely due to the fact that it did not perform very well at 1024x768.
