While we found the 3820 to be slower than the 3960X again, it's a very swift processor. It trailed the 3960X by 20% while faring 6% better than the 2600K.

x264 HD Benchmark's were similar to HandBrake's with the 3820 nestled between the 3960X and 2600K.

Using TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress, we recorded the time it takes to convert a 700MB avi file to mpg. The Core i7-3820 finished in 5 minutes 48 seconds, a hair slower than the 3960X and much faster than the 2600K.
