Has anyone declared a winner for this thread yet? :)

Yes, DAP is the most used, but I think StarDownloader is the winner!!!!

And what I say goes.............right out the window :(

Every other browser I know of has a built-in download manager except Internet Explorer. Look for one in the next version when XP SP2 comes out officially some time this year. Sure took Microsoft long enough to put one in.

I like DAP, but it comes with so much adware bundled.

The one I am using now with no probs, and it is damned fast is Download Express. It's free, uncluttered, and cool. No adware either.

I use FreshDownload... you have to put up with some annoying spammail, but that's easy enough to work around (email reg key, blah blah, )

Now if only one of those products that will increase your DL by 40x over dialup would actually follow through on the promise. ;)

    Great discussion,is'nt it ?

Could any one recommend me softwares which allow playing partially
    downloaded softwares.
  13. poertner_1274 secroF laicepS topShceT Posts: 4,745

About the only thing I sould think you would be able to play partially downloaded are movies or songs. Just create a little buffer for where you are currently while it still downloads, but I don't see how this would be feasable for software

    Great topic !!!!

Is there any download manager that enables playing partially
    downloaded files ?

Copy the partial file to somewhere - because Windows doesn't allow playing them if they're being used (makes me wonder why copying is allowed) - and play with VLC media player.

download accelerator plus is full of spyware and virtually impossible to get rid of. i still cant download ANYTHING in firefox now that i uninstalled it. i have to use netscape or opera. PLEASE TAKE THIS CRAPPY DOWNLOAD OFF THIS SITE! I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT CRAP FROM IT.
  18. josbd TechSpot Enthusiast Posts: 289

Get no argument from me on that one.

I am sticking with Download Express. No crap attached with it, and integrates smoothly with Firefox. AND it is free.

Star Downloader is still the best free utility
